Fixed my website for John and Jim’s Band
Here it is! The John and Jim’s Band Website! johnandjimsband.com
Back in high school, when I barely could play bar chords, my friend John Ter Louw and I decided to start a band together. We called it John and Jim’s Band. When our friend Adam Brown joined on drums we called the band John and Jim’s Band with New Drummer Adam. When Joe Tekippe joined on guitar we called it John and Jim’s Band with New Drummer Adam and Awesome guitarrist Joe. But it was getting to be a mouth-full so we usually just went by John and Jim’s Band.
This was between 1993 and 1995, before I really knew what the internet was. When I went off to college and started to figure out how to make simple web sites, the John and Jim’s band site was one of the first I made. But it sat dormant for a few years. I moved my web server a couple times, and some of the files got lost. Most of the links were broken etc.
So when Adam recently contacted me asking if he could get copies of some of the songs we recorded, I decided it was a good excuse to fix the site. I have left the design mostly intact to reflect my web skills of the period. But I fixed the links. I added better quality mp3s for download. Made what was once an overly compressed quicktime movie into a youtube link.
If you were into programming in the 1980s and 90s you probably know about Q-basic. It was a simple DOS based programming language that was easy to use. My friends Dave Stevenson and George Biggs helped me learn it and I made a game about John and Jim’s band. That’s up on the fixed site as well.
BUT I NEED YOUR HELP! If you have any old photos of John and Jim’s band, please email them to me! I can’t find the files I originally had, and I’d like to add more to the photo album section. Which I have for now left with a bunch of broken links.
