A 3D Photo Blog dedicated to the pictures I take with my View-Master Personal and Fuji Finepix Real3d cameras.

Brooklyn snow

January 31st, 2011 by jim

Just some shots of what my neighborhood looks like when we get a decent snowfall. I took these pictures on January 27, 2011. ( Here’s what it looks like when we get another form of weather.)

Here’s a video of riding over the Williamsburg bridge after the snow. (The video is sped up)

And here are some more pictures:

Tony Millionaire and Nicholas Gazin

January 31st, 2011 by jim

My benevolent employer Tony Millionaire and my friend Nicholas Gazin both had gallery openings this week.  Well I missed Tony’s gallery opening because it was at the same time as Nick’s, but Tony did have a signing at Desert Island comic shop in brooklyn the night before which I was able to attend. Nicholas’s show was called “No Escape” and happened at the Mishka store on Broadway in Brooklyn. Here are pictures from both shows. My fuji camera doesnt do great in low light without a flash. the pictures arent great but they are in THREEEE DEEEEE

Here’s Tony Millionaire and Ridge Carpenter. Who has the better name?

Nicholas Gazin and Pappy Gazin

Click on the images below and they should start appearing as a slide show of sorts. You can advance to the next with a little arrow that appears on the far right of the image when you roll over that area. About halfway through the pictures they repeat in cross-eye format. Samuel Locke Ward & the Boo Hoos, & Joe Jack Talcum

October 16th, 2010 by jim

I went to see Joe Jack Talcum (of the Dead Milkmen) at Bruar Falls last night and got a special treat. Samuel Locke Ward Opened with his band the Boo Hoo’s, and then proceeded to be Joe’s backup band (The called The Powders) . I took a couple pictures. The lighting is low at bruar falls. Doesn’t make for great video, but I tried that too.

Samuel Locke Ward and the Boo Hoo’s have some releases. Notably a 7 inch record I bought and Joe just released a CD called “Live in the studio” which is mostly him playing some old hits acoustic with friends accompanying on slide guitar and bongos.

Oh, and yes there were 3 other acts but I didn’t see them because I was eating Korean food down the street.

IOWA STATE FAIR THREEEEEE DEEEEEEEE!!!!!

September 10th, 2010 by jim

The IOWA STATE FAIR! It’s such a big deal you must use caps lock. My Pal over at rarerborealis.com was with me and wrote a couple nice companion articles with more photos.

I took a ton of photos in 3-D myself, so I figured out a better way to display them. Click on the images and they should start appearing as a slide show of sorts. You can advance to the next with a little arrow that appears on the far right of the image when you roll over that area. About halfway through the pictures they repeat in cross-eye format. Theodore Roosevelt in 3D

August 17th, 2010 by jim

Stereograph cards were the way 3D images were first introduced way back in the 1880s. To view them you had to have a stereo viewer like this. I have a few of these cards. So I thought I’d share a few scans of one of my favorite subjects, Theodore Roosevelt. Below you’ll see 3 versions of each. First the original, then the image converted to crosseye viewing, then an anaglyph for use with red/blue 3d glasses.

One more: This photo was obviously taken at the same time as the one above, but here John Muir has Joined him. There must be a stereograph card of this one out there as well, but this is the original uncropped photo from the Library of Congress. Except I colorized this one in photoshop.

NOW IT”S CRAFTY TIME!

If you have one of those old stereo viewers, you can print images from this site and make your own stereocards! follow these simple instructions:

1. find an image pair on this site and on it to get a larger file.

2 Drag it to your desktop and Print it out. (You’ll have to scale them to about 7 inches wide in a photo editing program or printer application to fit those viewers.)

3. Then you’ll generally have to flip them (put the left one on the right and right on the left). This is because I post most of these for cross eye vieweing and the stereo viewers work parallel. (The stereo cards above have been posted both crosseyed and parallel ways. The smaller images will be the ones you don’t have to flip.)

4. mount them on some sort of cardboard, and voila.
